Tools Required
The customer-provided tools required for the hardware installation of the NetVanta are:
Ethernet cables
Network cables (module dependent)
DSX-1 cable (T1/FT1 + DSX-1 module only)
DBU cable (dial backup functions require an optional DIM)
Phillips-head screwdriver (rack-mounted applications only)
To prevent electrical shock, do not install equipment in a wet location or during a
lightning storm.
Electronic modules can be damaged by static electrical discharge. Before handling
modules, put on an antistatic discharge wrist strap to prevent damage to electrical
components. Place modules in antistatic packing material when transporting or storing.
When working on modules, always place them on an approved antistatic mat that is
electrically grounded.
To access the CLI of the NetVanta, you will also need a VT100 terminal or PC with
terminal emulation software and a console port cable. Instructions on how to access the
CLI are given in the AOS Command Reference Guide (provided on the AOS
Documentation CD).
